Past Conferences

C.A.P.E. builds on a proud tradition of economics education at UNC Wilmington. For years, the UNCW Economics Workshop brought together educators to share pedagogical research and innovative teaching methods.

The very first workshop featured former Federal Reserve Chair Ben Bernanke as a speaker, setting a high bar for the caliber of discussion and scholarship that has defined this gathering ever since.

In 2025, the workshop evolved into C.A.P.E. — the Conference on Academic Pedagogy in Economics — expanding to a day-and-a-half format with an evening reception, multiple keynote addresses, and breakout sessions at the oceanfront Courtyard Marriott in Carolina Beach.
